Pros

flexible working hours allowing good work/life balance networking possibilities a few interesting fringe benefits depending on teams, good collaborations with colleagues plus interesting tasks lot of potential if right people at the right place

Cons

unsustainable - change of management (and sometimes vision/strategy!) several times per year for certain teams, lots of (good) people have left and poor atmosphere due to uncertainty, extremely political, slow decision making processes (no one wants to be responsible for anything, especially if this involves true innovation), inappropriate behaviour from some middle management members known but remaining unpunished (better not be their target) Values such as commitment and equal chances for all employees are nice words on the paper but don't seem to apply to the real work life bureaucracy and heavy processes (sometimes spending more time on reporting than actually doing your job) relatively low salaries and little evolution (better to give to shareholders than committed employees)

Pros

Above average salary and benefits. Nice working environment. Smart colleagues. Conservative and traditional ways of working for older employees -- with pockets of innovation and new ways of doing things for younger employees (for example, employees are encouraged to work from home a few days per week if possible, and use somewhat outdated collaboration and social media tools). Once you have your foot in the door, you have lots of opportunities.

Cons

Slow to change, yet in a state of constant change. Too many decision-makers. Mediocre employee engagement due to layoffs and job relocation outside of Switzerland. Complex structure -- although it is getting simpler and silos are slowly falling away. Mediocre managers spend more time on their own work rather than managing, coaching, and troubleshooting for their teams. Risk averse -- better to water down your ideas and compromise for mediocre success, rather than take a chance on something big and fail.
