Pros

Good policies, Learning, Onsite oppurtunities, V.Good for 1-6 yr experience guys.

Cons

Bulge !!! Bulge !! Bulge !!... If you are over 5yrs experience, you are black listed by Manager and he will start his plans to release you from the project. In bench no manager will take you unless he doesn't get any 1-5 yr experience guy no matter how good you are. I have seen people who has got outstanding struggling to get projects only because they are considered BULGE which is not good for the project. UCF - A new initiative by wipro encourages people to study more... sometime it is more like dictating people to study areas even if you are not interested. It is a mess.. dont go there unless your experience is between 1-4 yrs. 5 is ok.. Above 6... I strongly recommend not to join.

Pros

There are many very good managers in WT - if you happen to work for one of them then it a good experience. There are a host of onsite opportunities allowing one to make some good money in the process. You get to work for clients in different functional areas in multiple technologies so the exposure is very interesting. RSU - stock options, you have to be around for a while but if you get some of them RSU's then you can still strike gold.

Cons

Many many incompetent managers who got promoted just because they stayed with the organization for a long time - absolutely no clue about project, customer or people management. Long working hours - 14-16 hour days is the norm in most WT locations, even at onsite locations in the US. When you are in the US you have to deal with an offshore team also which means calls at night..long, very long calls! Below market salaries in both India and the US. Many policies are way out-of-date. No transparent communication channel to senior management.

Pros

There are a wide variety of career opportunities, and the market for outsourcing continues to grow. The company has a wide range of technology practice areas, and is highly competitive with the range of clients that it serves. The consulting practice area is a flat organization with significant opportunities for face time with senior executives, and enough "whitespace" to explore opportunities that do not necessarily coincide with current business areas. The bottom line is, there are a lot of opportunities, but you must be an experienced self starter to take advantage of many of them.

Cons

Management's overall direction is sometimes unclear, and the company as a whole struggles in some areas to accommodate its significant growth. The quality of employees from technology areas (knowledge, presentation skills, client skills) varies widely across the company. As a result it is difficult to know how well any particular project will go until after work has begun. The company also has a significant focus on keeping costs as low as possible which makes some policies feel "cheap" compared to other organizations.
