- There is no clear medium-term career path, lacking a competency framework for many teams - Promotion decisions often seem arbitrary, with not-so-clear communication about decision-making and changes within teams - Differential treatment for teams, some receive a lot of attention and visibility while others seem to be forgotten - Good intention to bring diversity and inclusion, but lacks real and financial investment in the cause.

Career pathing is an important topic for Gympassers, and we agree that competency frameworks are one crucial element to foster clear expectations and support employee growth. We are working hard to develop them for all teams across the company. We manage a structured performance review process to ensure fairness in evaluations and decisions around promotions. In the past few months, we also made changes to our internal hiring timeline to ensure all promotions follow a consistent cadence and criteria. In terms of visibility of the different teams, we'd love to hear more about your observations and understand where we might be able to make improvements. We are committed to fostering Diversity, Equity, and Belonging at Gympass. We have created a 5-Year Plan that encompasses many goals and areas of opportunity, and we are collaborating across the organization to work on initiatives that support the Plan.

These plans are crafted at the organizational or team level to ensure fairness and consistency among employees in the same roles. While we communicate changes and address questions, we cannot negotiate individually with employees about team or company-level plans. The People team is committed to creating career paths for Gympassers, with initiatives like competency matrices, career chats, and improvements to our Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
