Good place to work

Pros

Smart, driven people here really want to make a difference in our customer's lives and really do strive to deliver the best possible technology to accomplish that goal. Secondly, even though our broader team has a large proportion of contractors, everyone works together as a team and we have very strong loyalty.

Cons

Diversity is very low in the Engineering group. I think we would benefit from broadening the background from which we recruit.

Manager's make the job

Pros

I worked at the Frisco TX walmart for 9 months and absolutely loved my job. The managers treated everyone well, the employees helped each other out, and morale was high. People felt so appreciated that they would voluntarily come in to help on their days off if it was needed. The managers bought drinks for all employees on tough nights to keep morale up, they held celebrations for certain numbers of days without workplace incidents, and they gave recognition to hard working employees. I recommended my job and store to everyone that I knew. Other: The healthcare is affordable and the new time off policy is wonderful because it allows everyone to start acruing time off as soon as they start work.

Cons

On the other hand, I just moved to a new walmart and I can't stand it. The managers are unappreciative and drive their team like a pack of mules. No one wants to come to work and no one wants to work hard, because the managers don't care either way. The store is severely understaffed and the managers expect the handful of employees to get more than a night's worth of work done in a night or for every employee to do 2 or 3 employees worth of work, then get angry when it isn't done. My old store was understaffed too, but the manager's made it work. In conclusion, the manager's truly make or break a store. Other: There is no training for new employees, so you better be quick to pick things up.

Pros

Always something to do Coworkers can be great to work with. 10% discount for you and your spouse An alright benefits package

Cons

Communication is extremely poor between manager's and associates Rarely recognized for your hard work Favouritism reigns supreme Pay is very poor for such a large company Management constantly wastes time with daily meetings relaying the same details and often taking over half an hour of your time Nothing you do is good enough for the managers. Unless you are achieving 100% on your metrics you could be working harder
