Pros

great workplace with lots of perks (work from home, snacks, lunches, fun events) incredibly smart people ability to move to different positions within company lots of collaboration between teams enthusiastic support staff that worked very hard to take care of our needs

Cons

there was a lot of turnaround with leadership, making teams uncertain about their future. In the two years I worked there, I reported to 3 different supervisors. There is a lot of bureaucracy when dealing with the Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas. The way that the home office is run is so different (for example, they use antiquated equipment and technology) which made it almost impossible to get approval for the technology that we needed. It would take a long time to get ANYTHING approved, forcing us to hack workarounds for most issues that we faced. My team was eventually cut and we had to be split up and move into different teams within the company. Many of us were recruited from other jobs with a lot of promises, but we ended up feeling like we had gotten the bait and switch.

Pros

the people; the company employs local people who are just trying to survive and make a living, and getting to work with and work for those people is a great joy

Cons

it was a great company created by a great man, but since his death it has resorted to chaos management by profit-only, numbers-driven executives who are totally disconnected from the store operations where the business actually takes place; no regard for the employees, for their lives, their time, their contributions; they're treated as just another machine, another line on the asset column, expendable and in tolerable.
