Pros

Some of my coworkers were nice and turned into friendships. Met some very cool vendors. It is easy to get raises by getting your pharmacy license or becoming a shift lead. My boss was more laid back about a couple things. Living in a college town and working mainly with students contributed to that.

Cons

The company overall does not care about their employees. They constantly cut hours which ends up causing a staffing shortage but continue to pile more and more work without any sort of recognition. No matter what we would do it never seemed to be enough. The store I worked at was number two in the district for sales and we were often told by customers that our store was the nicest Walgreens that they had ever been to. There was one person from upper management that informed us of how great our store was looking and doing. She said herself that it was the cleanest Walgreens she had ever been to (she was in charge of visiting stores across Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. She was the only one to have given us any sort of recognition on how well we were doing. We were constantly berated by our store manager. She would talk horribly about my coworkers behind their backs. It got really bad after she went through some things in her personal life and she started projecting it onto us. She worked strictly in the pharmacy for 8 months straight without helping on the floor. She contributed the most to how “clique-y” the pharmacy was. I have heard from employees people that worked at other stores that had a very similar issue when it comes to the divisiveness between the floor and the pharmacy. My boss specifically took her frustration out on me, resulting people to apologize to me on behalf of her including the pharmacist at one point. Walgreens pays their “lower level” employees (cashiers, shift leads, IS, pharmacy techs) a pathetic wage for the amount of work they are expected to do. I worked there for two years and stayed out of desperation because I could not find another job. This is a worst case scenario employer. If I could give the company zero stars I absolutely would.
