Pros

Decent place to get a start on your managerial career. Do not work there for longer than two years because there are higher paying retail manager jobs out there without having to work the 60 hours and EXA should put in if he/she wants to advance.

Cons

-Low paying job -You will work all major holidays. -Stores should not be open if the pharmacy is closed!!! 6-7 gallons of milk sold on Christmas day does not pay to keep the lights on for the day.

Pros

Set up to feel like you own and run your own clinic Can work in your own community Clinics are set up very functionally Standards of practice are high Salaries are decent Benefits respectable Has given Nurse Practitioners recognition as providers. Is owned by Walgreens, therefore offers some stability in these difficult times.

Cons

Feels like you run your own clinic..... until they start to micromanage. Too many changes without getting input from providers. Less and less treated as professionals but rather like "employees". You will be punching a clock. Company keeps growing at the top while diminishing support at the bottom. Sadly, NPs are near the bottom. While scope of practice is limited, they keep adding services to bring in money. This is fine except that they don't work in the actual setting and have an unrealistic view of what will succeed and how to make it succeed. Too many new grads who don't know enough yet to practice independently.

Pros

The pay is not horrible but it's not the best either, I know many employees who have gone to other retailers for an extra $.50. Time off will be given if manager is noticed well enough in advance. Some regular customers can make the day a whole lot better.

Cons

The schedule is flexiable but only for those who are favorites of the store manager, if anyone else has a day they cannot work or would like off weekly will suffer due to that. You get what is called a promotion one day then knocked back down the next. Manager will not understand if the photo lab is busy and will still say that you are unproductive even if you had 100 orders to process. Some managers do not let employees see the task list and only tell employees part of what needs to be done and not all of the task, employee will get in trouble for not knowing or doing enough in the day. Managers will "gang up" on employees if employee is not in "the circle", and forget about ever being in "the circle." It has even been asked in my store, "who do you have the s---- to get anywhere around here?" Smoke breaks are given every five but non-smokers will not be left alone while on breaks. Once you get a raise better hope you like it b/c there is never another one coming. Employees are never thanked for help even when managers take all the credit.
