Pros

As an assistant manager, my job was hourly, and over time is capped at 4 fours hours. So you can make decent money, and not be a slave to the company. Since the job is not a 9-5 Monday through Friday, you can schedule Drs Appointments and whatever you need without worrying about using sick pay or vacation time. If you're a woman or minority and a good worker, the company wants to promote you. They have a huge desire to see more women and minorities in higher management.

Cons

I never knew what my schedule was going to be three weeks from now- meaning that there is never a set point where I would have a weekend off or a certain day off- it can be random. I also worked all different shift times. It’s hard to make plans with friends because I often worked most night and weekends. I've been sexually harassed and verbally abused by management. District management doesn't care- they'll just shift managers to a different store if the upper management gets too many complaints.

Pros

Decent pay, the work isn't too hard, as an assistant manager you only have to work 40-44 hrs a week normally. Wage is hourly so anything over 40 hours is 1.5x. Paid holidays and decent benefits are also upsides.

Cons

The schedule changes from week to week so its hard to get any sort of continuity as far as a life outside of work. Sometimes you will be asked to work overnight shifts or drive 1-2 hours away to help set up a new store. Also as of late there has been a lot of hours cut, so more work is falling on the managers.

Pros

Walgreen's has a wonderful work environment and employes a wide variety of people. I have never felt unwelcome there and have always had fun while working at all of the stores I have been to. There are ample opportunities to move up in the company; from within your home store to all over the country, Walgreen's has many job choices. The idea at Walgeen's is that it is okay to have fun at work so long as the customer leaves happy and maintaining relationships with the customer is very important. I think that anyone could be happy working there if they enjoy people's company and focus on making people happy.

Cons

The management is often not very experienced and they have a lot of turnover as management transfers or moves up, so they don't really get a lot of experience dealing with situations and policies. Also, a full-time workweek is only 30 hours, so you have to fill in at another store (which is easy to do with so many around) or hope someone calls in if you need more hours than that.
