Pros

Pleasant working environment Pay well Good people on the whole Stoke and Manchester sites much improved and most of the hard work happens here

Cons

Taking away all staff benefits and replacing with very poor alternatives Unless you work in Newbury you are a second class citizen internally and facilities are second rate in comparison company does well but does not reward staff in line with that very much a who you know not what you know environment far too much deadwood from "the old days" who simply wont embrace new or change - particularly in Newbury make important decisions without any consultation with "valued" staff

Pros

Large company with strong global reach for wireless solutions outside the US. Healthy financials give customers security a serious problem can be fixed. Base salaries commensurate with the industry while overall compensation plan is below that average.

Cons

Outside wireless services, not including the US, this company has trouble or can't deliver. Contracting process is almost impossible. Instead of promoting new ideals, legal will block something because of the "risk" of regulatory review in Europe. Lots of solutions are rolled out each year, but poor attention to product, solution, market and roll-out detail often leave the sales and support personnel incapable of delivering. Highly political to the point that incompetent people are kept based on how well they are liked and not how well they do their job. Managers fear retaliation for letting go a "friend of the president of the Americas" even if the dismissal is warranted. It's a closed group to be a "friend" having to been hired directly and not through acquisition by a British telecommunications company. All other people are subject to dismissal at a whim. It's no secret that the relationship between Vodafone who owns 45% of Verizon Wireless is strained to non-existent. Through Verizon Business, Verizon Communications competes directly with Vodafone for global non-wireless business. Verizon's demand to be in global control is such that a merger of the two companies would end up worse than the Dialmer purchase of Chrysler.
