Pros

- An incredible work culture at Upwork. Everyone is friendly, works hard and is collaborative, even in a competitive position. - Team leadership is strong and there is a good hierarchy in place. - Things are moving extremely fast. There are normally 5 new faces in the office every week. - Great perks. Free breakfast and lunch, transportation, work online Wednesday, gym subsidy - Company mission is inspirational and exciting. This is a disruptive company in terms of traditional ways of getting work done.

Cons

- There is some mismatch of culture alignment between Bay Area and Chicago which I think should be corrected - Fast growing is great, but need to separate self from others

Pros

People. Transparency. Although a hirearichal org, anyone can voice their concern and go against the grain. People are very open to ideas and last but not the least, this is a company born out of a merger and they have done well to integrate and work together as one. This company can be considered "old or mature" compared to the Ubers and Pinterests of the world.

Cons

Leadership in a few areas could be stronger than what it is. They are slowly investing in hiring people from the industry across all teams, which is actually good but then there are some veterans who should be simply given a fat severance and let go or give then an option to unlearn and unlearn before another day in the office.
