Pros

- Genuinely fun people to work with - Products consumer facing, so easy to see real world impact - Great pay/benefits (401k match, good healthcare, Unlimited PTO) - Hybrid work culture

Cons

Cons - Severe drop in engineering culture - In the chase to standardize engineer performance, numerous cracks have shown in the product itself - WLB used to be manageable, but with recent changes, WLB requires more work just to hit certain performance metrics (meaningless performance metrics) - No more innovation, just rinse and repeat the same product with barely any updates. Pros

Comp is robust, and the benefits are good. This is a cut/paste from Meta/Alphabet. It is starting to operate as a profitable enterprise.

Cons

Joyless and without any sense of humor or purpose. Under Travis, the culture was severe yet had direction and meaning in the company mission. Since that's changed under Dara, the organization is confused about what it is and why it exists. Unless you're optimizing well-established portions of the app(s), the work and leadership are subpar. New Bets has atrocious leadership that bases decisions on fear of criticism from the executive team, deeply held insecurities, and a culture of cruelty. Shockingly poor internal reviews of mid-executives, back-stabbing, and lack of managing to objective outcomes - entirely driven based on hallway conversations, innuendo, and what benefits a closed group of homogenous directors.
