Pros

Super-smart colleagues, incredibly interesting projects, wonderful drivers. The Susan Fowler post opened up a gaping wound in the company's inner workings that I'd say are being genuinely worked on with very deep introspection. The technology is staggering and I really feel we get a bad rap from the media (i.e. we are NOT evil)!

Cons

The systemic paternalism and bro-culture is absolutely real. If you're a woman, be prepared to be chronically cut off mid-sentence, 'forgotten' off meeting invites and second-guessed. Depending on the team you're in, you'll be the only woman around. If you're unfortunate enough to enter a team that's been together for a long time, you have to really work hard to be included, but don't be too pushy - or else you'll get dinged for it on your Performance Review. I kind of feel like you can't win.

Hi there - thanks for taking the time to send this in. While it's certainly been a tough few months, I agree that the company is taking a deeply introspective look, identifying what needs to change, and taking action, and I'm confident we'll come out far better for it. That being said, there are some things you call out which are completely against what we stand for here at Uber. If you'd be willing to chat confidentially and offline, I'd really like to dig in and brainstorm ways we can make Uber a better place to work for everyone. Feel free to reach out and we can set up a time to chat - pierce@uber.com. Thanks again!

Pros

Smart people, eager to solve problems, hard working, great business idea. People are willing to work on big challenges and don't give up.

Cons

Senior leadership does not seem to truly value employees (or drivers). People are viewed as expendable. This will ultimately hurt the business if they don't make changes. Not one cultural value about people.

Hi - thanks for your feedback and review. Working with smart and dedicated coworkers is a huge pro to working at Uber. Regarding your point on leadership not valuing employees or drivers and people not being a part of our values - I respectfully disagree. People are weaved into all of our values, whether it's letting builders build, celebrating cities, or any of the others, people are a vital component to each of them. If you have ideas or other feedback we can take to make Uber a better place to work, please reach out: pierce@uber.com.

Pros

They cater your lunch, but it's only so they can keep you in the building working to compensate for the ineffective business practices.

Cons

Too many meetings interfere with your work schedule. Special projects are added in addition to your current workload.
