Pros

UPS offers part time employees quite possibly the best bennefits of any part time employer i have seen. Depending on location part time employees may also bennefit from tuition re-imbersment of (dont quote me) i believe around a cap of $2k per semester. Part time employees usually have shifts that are perfect for working around a full-time job. I know of a few peple at our center that own their own businesses that work part-time for the insurance. Pay is prety decent although of course for the work, I would enjoy a little more. Starting pay in my area is 9.00/hr with a yearly raise of 0.50. usually i see about a two year employment time before part time employees are able to bennefit from more opportunities such as: extended hours, cover driving, management, possibly even full time positions depending on just how lucky they are. Also on how they handle their job and how they perform under stress.

Cons

The work is a little rough at times but for only a couple hours of your garunteed 3.5 hours. so it is manageable.

Pros

Good pay and excellent benefits for part-time work. If you want to live a life of repetitive work stay in the union for several years and become a full time package car driver I think that they start out at 45K +.

Cons

If you decide to go to management realize that loading and unloading trailers is physically demanding and requires a moderate degree of athleticism. Unfortunately, UPS will hire anyone regardless of physical shape to perform the job. If you manage people be prepared to have 1 or 2 athletic employees and the rest who are out of shape (that you are responsible for "developing" into faster workers)
