Pros

Working the night shift pays 100% of college tuition! I am a recent college graduate and have no student loans because I worked 3rd shift at UPS from freshman year to graduation. Average of 3-5 hours per shift for part-time employees. Anything over 5 hours is time and a half. The benefits were great! Doctor and Dentist visits cost me next to nothing. Received a raise every three months (depends on which contract you sign under). Received bonuses from Metro College and UPS for maintaining a "C" average, the bonuses ranged from $500 to $1500 depending on how many credits you passed and how many credits you have accumulated. I easily formed lasting relationships with co-workers and supervisors. If you are not scared of hard work and have a great attitude then UPS is a perfect match.

Cons

Work could be rough and tiresome at times. UPS followed a seniority system, it stinks when you have none, but great when you acquire some. You are rarely recognized for hard work.

Pros

The work is fairly simple and you can easily work a second job if you work for UPS.

Cons

Often times, the trucks are packed so full of packages that you can barely (if at all) walk through at the end of your shift. This makes it frustrating to find a place for everything and to make everything fit nicely, especially since packages tend to come down the conveyor-belt quickly. I also think the pay is low for what kind of work is performed. If you accept a job with UPS, work beyond the 90 day period it takes to get into the union because otherwise, the job's just not worth it. UPS takes money out of your paycheck each week for the union before the 90-day period has passed.
