Pros

This is specifically for working in the warehouse portion of a distribution center. Staying in good physical shape is NOT an issue when working at UPS inside one of their distribution centers. Even working part time, 3-4 hours each day, the level of physical activity is pretty extreme. Yes, this may sound bad to a lot of people, but if you're interested in staying in shape and getting paid, this is a great way to do it. Oh, and uh... good team environment, stable pay, and the company is willing to adapt to your physical abilities - if you can't do something crazy (like unload a shipping truck in <10 minutes) you can do something more suitable. If you want more work, they provide the option to assist the drivers with making deliveries. This extra work, coupled with morning warehouse work, can turn UPS into a (almost) full-time job (with a pretty long lunch break). This is great if you want to travel locally, meet new people, and train to move up within the company to a driving and delivery position. But you have to wear a uniform.

Cons

Again, the physical activity. This work is not for the medically challenged, the elderly, the asthmatic, or the lazy. Speed and strength are essential. Although safety is a prime concern, it is very easy to injure yourself or others through careless mistakes, improper lifting techniques, communication failures, or being over-ambitious when lifting and moving packages. Some of the packages are awkward - stacks of tires, broken boxes of printer ink cartridges being sent for recycling, bags of golf clubs, 12 foot long 2x4 blocks of wood... UPS will ship pretty much anything that's not alive or illegal. The pay and benefits aren't that great - but they are better than what you might expect from a part-time job.

Pros

Great pay and benefits. Flexible work hours. Great supervisors.

Cons

Transferring and applying to other UPS jobs as an employee should be a lot easier.

Pros

This job has a great benefits package. Tuition reimbursement, annual raises, medical, dental, vision are only a fraction of what is offered at this company. There are chances for advancement if you are willing to deal with all lot of grief from senior employees. This can be a great long term career if you land the right position. Otherwise I would recommend this UPS to students looking to make some money part time while going to college.

Cons

Whenever the company and Teamster's Union can decide on a contract the benefits are great. Unfortunately if you are a hard working individual you will be used constantly to pull the slack of those who just show up for the benefits and a little extra money. The Union allows for employees to work as little as possible and maintain their position. There are times when employees have held a job after not reporting to work after an entire month or more. Management has not been strong in their effort to motivate workers and make them aware of their rights or the consequences of taking advantage of the system. Because of this the workforce is unstable and unbalanced. Credibility and integrity are values that are rare on all levels of employment. Working conditions are awful. Facilities are just barely holding together and the filth is left to pile up in all areas. Under staffing is a real issue as well. The company does not like to put people in positions outside of what they have already done. So if you are an operations employee expect to remain in the operation as a supervisor manager and so on.
