Pros

Collaboration with other engineers, technicians, and customers is likely the only remaining positive aspect of working at the company, providing meaningful professional interaction and problem-solving despite broader organizational challenges.

Cons

The company’s top leadership continues to enrich itself while disregarding the well-being and intelligence of its employees. Retirement matching contributions have been reduced, pensions frozen, vacation carryover sharply restricted, health insurance costs substantially increased, annual raise pools kept consistently insufficient, and employee bonuses cut—resulting in stagnant or reduced total compensation for the workforce. Meanwhile, the CEO and executive leadership continue to receive substantial stock awards, bonuses, and compensation that includes personal-expense-related benefits. Compounding these harms, leadership routinely attempts to reframe cuts to employee benefits as being “for employees’ own good,” treating the workforce as though it is incapable of recognizing the direct financial damage these decisions cause. Employees have repeatedly raised these concerns through internal surveys, yet leadership has consistently ignored this feedback. This combination of dismissiveness, misrepresentation, and disproportionate executive enrichment reflects a systemic imbalance of power and priorities that urgently demands intervention and stronger labor protections. In the absence of responsive and accountable leadership, workers must be empowered to organize and unionize to protect their interests, benefits, dignity, and long-term financial security.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We know change can be difficult, and we understand that not everyone will agree with every decision. As the company continues to evolve as a public organization, we have made updates to our programs and benefits with a focus on long-term sustainability and consistency. We appreciate hearing different points of view and encourage employees to share concerns through our internal channels so they can be reviewed and addressed.

Pros

Being an executive at UL! It's always great to work for company where the employees are not rewarded while the executives shower themselves with company shares now that it's gone public. Executives received thousands of stock options worth millions of dollars while employees got NOTHING!

Cons

There are no cons for executives! They only care about fleecing the company!

There are many benefits to being a publicly traded company for employees. Being publicly traded allows UL Solutions to raise capital to grow and with growth comes new career opportunities for colleagues in multiple areas of the company. UL Solutions has increased visibility and plans to expand the scale and reach of our business worldwide. An employee stock purchase plan is a benefit being rolled out over time subject to local laws and regulations. This is an exciting time to be a part of UL Solutions. It is a common practice to incentivize senior leadership during key company milestones to ensure the company’s successful growth.

Pros

Common disdain for middle management and upper management, which leads to fun camaraderie amongst the employees.

Cons

No business directions, no goals, and a very thick layer of middle management that is extremely incompetent. They don’t know how to run a software company. Some of the worst communications of any organization I’ve ever seen. Slow processes, endless pointless discussions and new initiatives that always end in deadends. Uninspiring leadership - they’re really just upper management. The CEO is clueless and it’s very surprising that she’s still the CEO. Just a very bad organization to work for.
