Pros

Company has a strong mission with lots of potential. Was at one time a great place to work...

Cons

Some of the business leaders are incompetent and are only able to stay in their positions because they are very skilled at deflecting blame onto their subordinates and are not held accountable by senior leadership. Also another big problem is legacy employees with no skills have been promoted to leadership positions and have no business being there. In general there needs to be more accountability for the senior leaders and changes made to put people with skills and talent in those roles.

Pros

Flexibility hours. Lap tops to work remotely when needed.

Cons

If you are truly interested in safety this is not the company for you. The safety standards only apply to the companies that are small. If your customer spends enough money the product will always pass. If your report this to the ethics group you will be removed. Some customers don't even have to test.

Pros

Working at UL has been a deeply disappointing and disheartening experience. The company's approach to staffing and employee welfare leaves much to be desired, and it is important for potential candidates to be aware of the challenges they may face within this organization. One of the most alarming aspects of my time at UL was their tendency to over hire employees, only to follow up with sudden and unjustifiable layoffs. This lack of job security created a toxic atmosphere of uncertainty and anxiety among the workforce. Employees were left feeling undervalued and dispensable, as if their contributions were irrelevant in the face of arbitrary decisions made by upper management. Furthermore, the company's singular focus on financial gains above all else was palpable. Employees were viewed primarily as revenue-generating assets rather than valuable individuals with unique skills and talents. This profit-centric approach not only undermined morale but also stifled innovation and creativity. The emphasis on the bottom line overshadowed any sense of camaraderie or teamwork, creating a cutthroat environment where colleagues were pitted against one another in pursuit of monetary goals. Moreover, there were no discernible career advancement opportunities within the company. Despite the dedication and hard work of employees, there seemed to be a lack of interest from management in nurturing talent or promoting from within. The absence of career growth prospects left many feeling trapped in their roles, leading to a stagnant and unfulfilling work experience. Attempting to address these concerns with the Human Resources department proved to be a daunting task. Human resources personnel were notoriously difficult to reach, unresponsive to inquiries, and often seemed indifferent to the challenges faced by employees. This lack of support further exacerbated the feelings of isolation and helplessness among the workforce. In conclusion, my time at UL was marked by disappointment and disillusionment. The company's questionable staffing practices, profit-driven mentality, absence of career development opportunities, and unresponsive HR department have created a deeply unsatisfactory work environment. Prospective employees should approach this company with caution, considering the considerable drawbacks that may overshadow any potential benefits.

Cons

Over-hiring followed by layoffs Profit-centric culture Lack of career advancement Unresponsive Human Resources Limited Job Satisfaction Unskilled and past-their-prime middle and upper management
