Business Outlook
Pros
No layoff worries at Total. Shops in the US are very lean and upper management relies on attrition to reduce head count, not layoffs. Very comforting in times of recession or low crude prices. Very structured management (could be considered a con), but quality people through out organization especially at the staff level.
Cons
Not super competitive on salaries, and very slow to move people around and up. Young employees who are talented usually get frustrated with how long they are kept in the same role and leave before they can move up. Chemical engineers routinely get first pick of openings.
