Pros

Total overall is a good technical oil companies. Diversity in operation around the world and internal experts make it good place to learn especially for graduates. Easy to start for new employees since internal process guideline is well structured. Some of the experts in the company are world class.

Cons

- You can forget about career if you are not french. Total is still a french company; you can feel it especially if you work in Paris. - Salary is ridiculous compared to other company. Even the expatriate package is not up to international standard. - Politics in the company sometimes could be a turn off for employees and it makes it difficult to move around in the organization - Work life balance is non existent

Pros

Decent pay and benefits. I enjoyed working with different people across different departments and business lines.

Cons

Immediate termination by the company upon turning in a 3 week notice. To avoid paying a bonus due 3/15, the department leadership chose to forgo the transition despite being fully aware of the high turnover and severe knowledge gap the department is already facing.

Pros

Genuinely good people; misery loves company but the company is good. Total is the perfect place if you're fresh out of school or if you've been put out to pasture and simply want to finish the 2-3 years before retirement in a stress free environment. Think Adult Retirement Daycare Center.

Cons

Incompetent management from the top down. There is a mass exodus of engineers, chemists, and operators leaving the company. The safety program is in shambles with the new shared services consolidation and it's only a matter of time before a catastrophic incident occurs. Poor communication and dismal morale. Chemists fresh out of school come in at a higher pay rate than tenured chemists. I don't know a single person here who isn't looking for another job at the moment, myself included.
