Pros

Remote work, flexibility to manage your schedule. Some of your coworkers are really awesome.

Cons

Where do you begin .. well the positive reviews you see are either the talent who are placed at the various client projects or fake bots / HR yes folks whose sole purpose is to drive the Toptal brand’s image As other negative reviews have listed, HR / People team exists only to make sure you say positive things about the firm. Employees have a strict social media policy - if you don’t follow them, your chances of getting fired increases exponentially. And yes, the Chief Legal Counsel will sue you if they come to know you have joined another staffing company. Sales is being run by ops people who believe metrics and data analysis will drive sales. Every week there is a new metric that you are measured on which has absolutely no bearing on Sales and how to drive revenue. Motivation by Fear is the mantra that is practiced by every leader. Those who oppose are either demoted or thrown out. Last 6 quarters sales has seen new leadership and consolidation of vertical in every quarter. Current morale amongst other teams is even worse as they have had more than 50% layoffs. All your weekly meetings with your manager is recorded. Every survey is tracked and if you do not respond you get slacked to finish the survey. Naturally the response rate and score will be higher - after all they know exactly who has said what and you certainly do not want to be caught speaking the truth. They have had so much turnover and layoffs in the last 6-8 months it’s truly unbelievable. Incompetent folks are given promotion because they are YES folks and good people are made to suffer. You will never know who is on the hit list because they do not disclose the metrics , how are faring as compared to others - transparency is a farce. They will cut your slack off in a minute and you do not even stand a chance to turn things around. Culture is that of lead by fear and intimidation - old timers (who joined in the heyday somewhere 3 years ago) enjoy the most as they have established accounts and can fudge all the metrics - hiding behind their large account portfolio ; meanwhile newer team members struggle as the market has dried up and very less business is flowing. We lost quite a lot of good development and engineering folks as as well Sales folks - and continue to do so. The latest trend is to hire a quarter in advance - worst is they ask a person to be the new hires buddy and within a qtr they will can the “buddy” and let the new hire take his place. As others have said - the CEO and the leadership are very controlling and do not believe or work for the employee benefit. The company has no Diversity and Inclusion programs - if you look through the website you will not see a single mention of DEI. The prospective candidate should question why ? Advice - run away from this place. Save your self from this toxicity and hell hole.

Pros

100% remote and good pay

Cons

Would regularly get rid of employees with no notice and no explanation, leaving their teammates confused and worried they were next. Weeks of hard work were thrown away because teams no longer had the bandwidth to support projects, and employees were left to take on the extra work of those that were randomly let go. For months Taso (CEO) told employees on their monthly company meetings that they did not anticipate any layoffs, that there was no need to worry, and that any employees that would be let go would be due to reasons strictly performance related. In February 2023 they laid off hundreds of employees who were shocked and confused, one department at a time, so the other departments didn't know it was coming. Severance was low compared to other tech companies. Laid off employees had no time to collect white-labelled project examples to use to secure their next role or any personal items saved in their Google drives.

Pros

You can work from remote

Cons

Very rough and discriminating way of approaching people. Exploiting human workforce with no real benefits, modern way of slavery, in most cases.
