Pros

-Flexible scheduling; good for students, people wanting/needing a second job, whatever. -Not too strenuous work (you will be lifting some heavy stuff, though). -They're pretty good about hiring from within. So there is potential for growth in the company.

Cons

-You will receive a miniscule increase in pay every year, just barely 2%, while newly hired people get paid a dollar more than you. While the CEO got an extra 3 million, a nice 30% pay bump. Nice job, Craig, I'm sure you worked very hard. -Low pay for what you're expected to do/know. They want you to not only be a warehouse worker and a retail worker; moving heavy stuff across the store without the use of machinery for the most part, occasionally operating heavy machinery, bringing heavy stuff down from the overhead to stock the shelves, directing customers where they need to go, etc. But also know be knowledge about everything in your department and the surrounding departments. Wouldn't be so bad if they paid enough to attract anyone but mostly college kids who don't know anything or a few knowledgeable seniors needing the money. Many of whom are usually either busy helping another person. Do you really want to trust a potentially $1,000+ purchase on the input of a guy barely out of high school? -High likelihood of having not enough staff for how busy the store is. Being both under and overstaffed. You're either constantly helping customers and can't get your department cleaned up, which you will be blamed for, or you're done with everything, you and the other 3 people in your department standing around. -Management encourages you to lie on employee surveys. -The music in the store will eventually drive you to insanity.

Pros

I work for the HomeDepot.com call center. The management is hands down the best I've ever had. Love my boss, the work hours are very flexible and MGMT is very accommodating and understanding. Decent pay, great benefits, wonderful team culture and advancement opportunities. Very easy to work from home.

Cons

The work itself is suicide-inducing. Customers are rude, disrespectful, and constantly angry. Our systems are at best confusing and at worst unusable. Company policies seem almost intentionally anti-customer at times, which leads to more anger directed our way as front-line associates. Training is forced to be full-time and lasts 4-6 weeks, and yet doesn't completely cover everything you'll need to know about how to do your job.

Pros

Large volume of clients/customers. Always busy. If you like meeting people and engaging with prospective new customers, there's a lot of foot traffic. Always new product. Great training program,

Cons

There's a lot of traffic. as a designer, sometimes serious conversations about budget or issues can be a problem when there are 10 people standing around my desk. Or just staring at you, waiting for you to be done. Lots of interruptions. Appointments people may have waited a week for will get stopped because another customer needs help with a water filter, or a dishwasher, or needs toknow where the restroom is. You are in a fish bowl. Designers do not get the respect or pay that they deserve. Therefore they have a high turnover. The needs of the business will come before your family. Period. Unless you're a single person, with no children thats willing to "Bleed Orange" dont expect to have success there. Also, the business is saturated with Nepotism. They will tell you there are no positions available and promote a regional manager's son in an advanced leadership program. There were several married couples, in supervisor roles, and Parent/child relationships with in the store I worked. The work environment and sacrafices my kids were making were too much.
