Pros

Health benefits are not the best, but are available. Pay is competitive for new graduates based on overall salary (not based on number of hours worked). Teaches you how to handle pressure. Not the worst thing to have on a resume if there are no other options. An okay last resort.

Cons

No raises. Too many hours required. Very few positions available to promote into. Very little professional/business management work that was described during interviews. Most time as a post-college graduate spent straightening products on shelves and operating baler/compactor. Too many conflicting responsibilities / extra required duties made it difficult/impossible to stay focused on/ be successful with core job duties. Senior management not supportive of in-store employee relations. Every day there is a fear of losing your job.

Pros

Incredible employment opportunities all over the board- different positions, different locations, different ladders of success to climb. The possibilities are endless. It is a fun place to work and your teams are generally full of really wonderful people who are all excellent at what they do. The environment fosters success.

Cons

LOTS of long hours (as a salaried employee). Varying schedules.
