Pros

Broad remit and autonomy available due to lack of leadership, systems or processes. everyone just 'wings it'.

Cons

Exec leadership team, with few exceptions, operate on a regime of fear, bullying and blame. Very little leadership, unethical treatment of staff goes unnoticed and is seemingly encouraged by certain leaders (Finance Director and senior members in Supply Chain in particular). The leadership team is in over their heads, the reaction to any failures to turn the business around is to blame their own staff. The offices are poorly located in an industrial area of North Geelong and are poorly maintained, ugly and uncomfortable (if you're being interviewed don't be fooled by the glossy reception area, this is the only nice part of the whole office), the teams all turn on each other and the default position for all staff is suspicion, finger pointing and fear. In twenty years of my career around the world this is by and far the most toxic, awful place I have ever worked. Everyone here on Working Visas feel trapped and are waiting for the time they can get out, everyone else lasts about 3-12 months, staff turnover is reported at around 35% but the numbers are clearly being fudged as turnover in TSSO is quite clearly closer to 50%. Do not be seduced by the lies or the money, this place is hell on earth.

Pros

Coworkers great. Benefits pretty good, (although getting worse every year like most companies). Target is attempting to find it's place in the new digital world (although, short of staff reductions, their strategy isn't clear and definitely not transparent).

Cons

Too in love with the latest corporate speak / business gimmick. Culture a bit Stepford wife-ish. Maybe that will change with this new transformation. Days of a company committing to you are over. As soon as you get too old they will get rid of you. Who you know (visibility) is more important that what you do. Negotiate a good salary up front as raises tiny for everyone but the execs.
