Pros

They were very flexible in my requests to take time off and work around my sports and school schedule. They offer competitive salaries for part time workers. They crossed train employees to help avoid long lines at the registers and also provide more variety to the day. Pleasing a customer by finding an item in the backroom always makes them feel good and gives you a feeling of satisfaction.

Cons

Sometimes you have to put up with mean or upset customers. Cleaning up the toy aisle everyday just to have more kids come and make a mess the next day can get a little old.

Pros

Target really hires a lot of great people, well in management at least, the team members are all very interesting. It is a great first job, they pride them self on development of there team members.

Cons

Work life balance means working 50hrs a week and everyother weekend. I know its retail and that is probably a good balance but who likes to work weekends ! Target seems to have a lot of inside politics which I am sure most companies do but definitly not a fan of that !

Pros

The executive teams at most stores that I have been in work together and bond, taking pride in turining around what are deemed "red" stores.

Cons

Advancement/development opportunities not based upon experience/performance/education but rather if you are chosen as a "HiPo" based upon whether you are "Target brand" (how you look, dress, smooze, who you know, etc). Target categorizes it's people and once you are pegged as something, you are stuck with that stigma. Preach work-life balance but do not practice it. If you try to put family first, generally, you are criticized for doing so. They have no problem expecting you to work on days off or work 14-18 hour days without any added compensation.
