Pros

The job is somewhat flexible as to part-time vs full-time. Therefore, it meets the needs for family life. The team is very warm and welcoming. The training is good. The benefits are great even at the part-time level.

Cons

The need to work several nights, weekends, and holidays. The turn-around of staff leaving continual vacancies that need to be filled. This then impacts the ability to swap shifts if needed or taking time off if needed. There is limited growth professionally. The availability of management positions is limited and the positions are not broad in function so growth is somewhat limited there too.

Pros

Pay and expanding leadership skills

Cons

Work life balance. Difficult to set up a regular schedule and long hours. Company currently cutting back payroll hours therefore management has to work longer to make-up for less employees working.

Pros

Target pays better than its competitors in the retail industry. Also, the management team has a rotating schedule where they get two weekends off per month- very rare in the retail/restaurant industry. Last, Target supplies its "team members" with a wealth of support in the form of consistent communication from HQ, Group, and District offices. Change happens frequently, but the management team tries to keeps its employees abreast.

Cons

Nights/weekends are required- the nature of the retail beast. Also, this is no 9 to 5. Hours can fluctuate dramatically w/in a week. If stability is something you're looking for, Target may not be the best fit.
