Pros

You work on a great product that makes a real difference in people's lives. Great company culture, great leadership and vision, and a great breadth and depth of technologies and challenges.

Cons

Growth brings challenges and the company will have to work hard to avoid becoming like the big behemoths that it is currently disrupting.

Pros

There are some great people that work at Tableau, the product is truly great, and the health insurance benefits are great. The work life balance is also good if you are able to clock out and not take the issues home with you.

Cons

Where do I even begin? Onboarding: This is a complete nightmare. Since the acquisition, 100% of the onboarding experience is about Salesforce, not Tableau, therefore, new reps begin their Tableau career not knowing the first thing about their product or even their company. Better yet, nobody knows how anything works, it'll take months to get your comp plan, and anytime you have a question (and trust me you'll have a million), you'll be told to look up the answers yourself and "be more self sufficient", even if you have never been told where to begin. Everything, and I mean everything, is handled by articles and how-to posts. You will be expected to figure things out for yourself and hit the ground running with zero guidance. This is a terrifying place to enter without prior knowledge or experience with Tableau because there is ZERO training! Absolutely none. Resources: You'd hope that if you weren't provided training, you'd at least have some resources to help you out once you begin, right? Wrong! Again, after the transition, Tableau had all their resources gutted! Imagine going through a Salesforce "bootcamp" and being expected to sell Tableau the same day without an SE or a manager or anyone else on your meeting with you. Wouldn't it be nice if someone shared best practices or was there to answer technical questions for you that you haven't even learned about? The best part about it is joining a team that's been together for a year, and nobody knows how to do the job either because everything has changed. Fair warning: You will spend the vast majority of your time handling support cases for customers that you won't know or understand the first thing about. If you're in a selling role, you'll spend more time being a customer service rep than you will trying to hit your unattainable quota. Management (or lack thereof): The best part about having a million levels of management where everyone is the Director or Vice President of something, is that 99% of them are worthless and they are only in these positions because they aren't capable of moving up anymore. Imagine being new and begging for assistance or guidance to even be shown where/how to get going and being dragged by your manager for not being self sufficient. Then, when you get frustrated, have your manager tell you they ignored you for a full week and didn't answer your questions ON PURPOSE TO PROVE A POINT. Who admits that to a new employee?! Why not try to be helpful and encouraging and at least spend a minute with your new employee to make sure they are set up for success? I see/speak with my manager maybe once per week, and they are unreachable the rest of the time. Compensation: Tableau has always been behind the curve on comp. Also, nobody knows how comp works here. Salesforce (as a company and product): Joining the Salesforce team, you are viewed and treated by "actual Salesforce employees" as lesser for working for one of their acquired companies. Their internal Salesforce instance is pretty cool, but it's an absolute mess. Good luck teaching yourself to navigate the countless redundant steps there is to literally everything. People: Nobody is happy. Morale is unbelievably low. This company used to be absolutely incredible, but it has simply lost its way.
