Pros

Excellent training programme which starts in Seattle HQ training you in Tableau's products and sales messages. It's hard not to be motivated in the company's ambitions. Some of the nicest colleagues that I've come across anywhere.

Cons

The services organisation in EMEA does not take the opportunity to provide role based training and development to new team members. If you cannot already fully fulfil on the job you will quickly be shown the door. It was evident that Regional Delivery Manages are not adding any value. Rather than doing this they could be seen creating or seeking problems to justify their existence especially with the pending Salesforce merger. Training for the Tableau Product is great but role based training is absent. This is evident across all levels of management. The current role based training that exists is reading an on boarding guide. The organisation does not have time to provide mentoring as discussed in these documents.

Great tech, horrible managers and even worse HR

Pros

Lovely people as coworkers, sublime and state-of-the-art technology, great products and a lots of money that is getting spend

Cons

Terrible management, multiple managers and team leads without any necessity. No culture of constructive criticism, whatever is getting a 360° reflection is received as personal criticism of one’s manager or majesty insult. Micromanagement and finger pointing is the absolute norm and that is causing the most valuable people to leave. If a manager’s behavior is getting escalated to the next level it is getting ignored or even worse, it’s creating a backdraft and causing your career to end quickly. Unprofessional and selfish behavior and not a sign of integrity and having the companies interests in mind. HR is the worst I have ever came across in terms of an understanding for local laws and their interpretations, full of excuses, never, NEVER responds to questions asked in time and acts unprofessionally on a constant level.

Pros

- Industry leading product that’s beloved by customers (sometimes they hug us at our annual convention!) - Interesting business problems are solved all over the world and in every industry using Tableau - Expanding product portfolio includes data prep, metadata management, in-memory database, and improving enterprise features - Rapid pace of agile innovation with quarterly releases introducing new features - Higher-quality software releases than many in the tech industry (not perfect, but release quality is solid) - Progressive, liberal corporate values for most roles - come as you are, dress as you feel comfortable (visible tattoos and pink hair OK in some roles) - it’s more about your character, productivity, customer-focus, and creativity than “how you look” here (sales and consulting roles are always going to be somewhat of an exception to this) - Colorful, fun corporate culture with company and team events, fitness challenges, and other spirit-building activities that aren’t as common at larger software companies - “Humble smart” culture of talented, intelligent people with a spirit of servitude and empowerment of each other — there is far less attitude and ego here than in many large corporate environments, and the culture is one of being willing to selflessly pitch-in

Cons

- Cash compensation is frequently below the industry norm for many roles, although some roles make up for it with RSUs - 401(k) match is below other large software vendors - Interview process can be difficult / challenging
