Pros

Our mission is important. Gateway to the Federal Service. Young agency with growth opportunity in a booming sector (Homeland Security.)

Cons

HQ has no concept of what real life is like in the airports. Local management is hit-or-miss; too many hangers-on from rollout, wouldn't be qualified anywhere else or promotable at TSA today, on power trips and contaminating the culture. Favoritism abounds.

Pros

1. Great place to work. 2. Great benefits for a low level government job. 3. Information from senior management is disseminated quickly amongst other officers. 4. Good place for those who can stick to a very specific procedure.

Cons

1. Can be stressful for those not used to a very busy environment, or a very confined procedure. 2. Advancement placement is terrible; those who can write and essay and answer questions are looked at. Then local top managers pick their favorites. 3. Slow accrual rates for vacation time, sick time. 4. Bonuses could be semi-annual. 5. High turn over, attrition is a constant no matter the economic state of the country.
