Pros

pay(compared to regular 9-5) not compared to other fed jobs of the risks and scrutiny we took time off was accrued so it is good if you use it right there is room for advancement but it's more of a glass ceiling

Cons

-pay(lowest out of homeland security) -taboo..a lot of people at TSA are sooo cool we don't want to throw away that lotion but,and i quote "what if your mom was on that plane, and that was a bomb, someones mom is on that plane and everyone will be safer if you throw away the liquid" plus we can easily be fired for letting it pass -you get a lot of supervisors in and out and switching shits so you never know who's personality you'll get some are great people some are old angry people who think they're cops -glass ceiling. we all know the story "i started flipping patties now i own the restaurant" that's the dream they sell you at tsa if you want to make it a career you can and in 5 years you'll be supervisor about 10 years to get to a desk but it's politics, who's butt to kiss first to and i've seen upper management clique up with workers and move them along and when that management left the remaining management and their clique shunned them..get it

Pros

Health benefits Easy entry into federal employment Consistent hours No previous education required to earn 30k per year Job security for people who are able to meet bare minimum requirements

Cons

Inconsistent from top to bottom with training, promotions, policy enforcement, working conditions TSA treats public with very little respect or dignity. For officers who do management will target you for being "soft" Breakrooms are filthy with no amenities usually. Management is far removed from daily opperations and exhibits very little competent or ability to respond to threats Work force is negative, lazy, and insensitive to people TSA is a national liability as a disaster waiting to happen because employees are too busy planning cultural awareness events instead of mastering job skills and networking with other DHS agencies
