Pros

The insurance is insanely good. That is the sole reason most people put up with it. There is a small window for advancement and improvement. It is difficult to get fired due to the shortage of people (this is both a pro and a con)

Cons

Moral is low and there is a high turn over/transfer rate due to a widespread culture of shifting blame down the chain of command and rewarding those that shift off their responsibilities. There is way too much pressure placed on those at the bottom of the totem pole which coupled with abuse from the public leads to many leaving. Very much a male dominated field. Women are overworked and sexual harassment is common but under reported due to the insane reporting process that punishes the victim. Management is hopelessly out of touch with the workforce and will often concoct bizarre pep-rally type events in a desperate effort to boost morale but will always end up belittling the staff instead. These quarterly events are an extremely awkward and demoralizing experience. Performance scores are kept deliberately low even for those with obviously good work performance and racial and gender biases keep excellent workers from receiving the score they deserve. The union is willfully ignored and or undermined. Everytime the union succeeds in securing a benifit the management will introduce a new directive to take it away through a detail or loophole. The antagonist relationship between the union and management benefits no one. The traveling public is at best thoughtless at worst downright cruel. Expect to be cursed at, threatened and metaphorically and literally defecated on multiple times during your career at TSA. You will get hit in the face and peed on at least once a year.
