Pros

Great coworkers, that I have come to appreciate and became life long friends. Was always looking out for one another. It is a great stepping stone to move to another agency within the government.

Cons

To much micromanaging. Management only looks out for the negative things that is done. Would not give any kind of incentive for doing something above or beyond, as far as they are concerned you are just doing your job.

Pros

Decent salary. The benefits are really good along with a great government retirement plan. It's nice to have two consecutive days off and holiday pay. The availability of overtime throughout the year is convenient incase you need more money.

Cons

Salary increase is dependent on management and NOT on performance as it should be. They have a system in place which suggest that it is based on "performance" however they hand you a sheet to do a self evaluation, they review it, then give you a bad score so you don't get a bonus or raise at the end of the year even though you exceed expectations. This is a complete thankless job from the public and even more so from your superiors and management. Most managers and supervisors don't even say "good morning" let alone a "thank you". In order to advance within this agency you must be well known and well liked; has absolutely nothing to do with your work ethic at all. It's all about who you rub elbows with. The schedules are horrendous. You're either working early mornings ex.4am-12:30pm or afternoons which take up your whole day. You will either get little sleep or be at work throughout the entire day. Weekends off are extremely difficult to obtain. Vacation planning is a nightmare with this job! I could go on forever about the cons because they truly outweigh the pros by a long shot!
