Pay increase helped

Pros

The ability to change your schedule annually based on your seniority. The pay increase in 2023 definitely made the job more competitive in pay, with doing overtime being more visible now.

Cons

Limited to when you can take leave due to an annual bid and if you're not one of the top 10 in seniority, don't expect to get any holidays off. High number of employee call-offs around holidays and big events are definitely felt, making those who showed up to work exhausted from having to pick up the slack of others not coming in due to high passenger volume. If you're not in the "click", go ahead and kiss promotions goodbye. Management knows from the day they hire new employees who they are going to promote as quickly as they legally can. Employees who have been in the agency for a long time, and have the experience are constantly overlooked and denied promotions, where as newly hired employees (less than 2-3 years), are getting leadership roles and don't even perform the job as they should. Payroll team here is awful. They are always messing up employees paychecks, and not counting time worked (to include OT) and putting the blame back on the supervisors and managers, when in fact it was payroll's mistake. Being marked AWOL frequently even when having the leave balance is a common issue and they take forever to remove it.

Pros

Just to get your foot in the door federal. Do your two years and use that to go to CBP like I did or other federal agencies

Cons

Dealing with passengers/management truly sucks/HR sucks/wrong people get promoted. TSA is like Walmart, the harder you work the more work you are given, people treat you like crap and all of the "leads" and "supervisors" are in the back near the podium not doing anything.
