Cons

One of the most horrible companies I have ever worked for. There are many reasons why but here are my main reasons: Toxic work environment Favoritism Cliques Unprofessionalism from some people in positions of power-Many people do not know how to talk to people they supervise without yelling Backstabbing behaviors, sometimes from your colleagues. Some coworkers refuse to work with each other which weakens unity. Some supervisors and managers refuse to work with teams they supervisors and have a “my way or the highway” attitude which is not good in an environment that functions off of flexibility, agility and endurance. Some workers have bipolar personalities and express personal attacks towards each other. Frequent Infighting and bickering amongst some workers, spilling into checkpoints operations. Management does nothing to prevent this due to favoritism and encouraging the infighting while not addressing problems from the root cause. The higher the ladder you climb more barriers are set for failure. Many people withhold information from you to see you fall and fail. The more you butter up to management the more likely you will get promoted Crabs in a barrel mentality Too many people gossip about each other + lack of camaraderie. Employees got written up when they could not stay for “mandatory overtime” . Not much flexibility and approval when you want to take days of Poor work-life balance No flight benefits Bare bones budget-less money available for uniforms Unprofessional communication from people in positions of power from leads up to managers and senior management. Supervisors and Managers have written false statements about workers and it stays on the employees profiles online-the statements can add up and employees have no way of defending themselves or making counter statements. The statements stay on the employee profile and when workers apply for jobs, the statements can adversely affect workers when applying for other Federal jobs and/or promotional positions. If someone lies on you-Management will believe the liar, even without evidence. Most people in positions of leadership should not be. Many of these people are not open to questions, comments or concerns that could make the job better. AFGE union reps take our money but rarely ever fight for employees, stand up to supervisors/managers and barely ever respond when workers ask for help. Many employees are wondering what is the use of the union if they are not there for us? When we need to request a day, we have to be on site to submit a request. Supervisors and Managers are very fast to write people up without evidence, hearing all sides of the story TSOs are told to do the work of Supervisors who are supposed to calibrate machines-many times this work does not get entered in the employee profile Needs more consistency regarding rules and procedures-All terminals have to be on the same page Stop overlooking talented and qualified employees who apply for positions like lead and other positions just because you do not like them It has been said that certain managers will lower your score when you are tested for a promotion just because they do not like you Needs more efficient transitions between shifts-Everyone should be relieved on time and leave on time Poor temperature control, broken fans
