Pros

There are a few good people who are actually smart and talented and nice. 9-5 schedule, everyone is leaving at 5.

Cons

1. Behind in technology. Almost everything is done manually. This is actually the least problem. It is frustrating at first but you will get used to the manual workflow. It is the other cons that makes this company terrible. 2. This is basically a cult. Don’t get me wrong, I have huge respect for the CEO and the leadership team. He is a legend in the insurance industry, the main reason that I chose to work at this company in the first place. However, within the company, managers often overuse his name to scare their employees such that reminding employees to be on time or “Mr. Greenberg would notice it”. I’m sure he has more important things to do than paying attention to an admin’s punctuality. If you know somebody who knows Mr. Greenberg, you’re special. If you’re lucky enough to have one conversation with him, you’re golden. You get the idea. 3. The majority of managers are not very bright, and don’t deserve to hold leadership positions. As noted in my example above, some managers use very childish and cheap tactic to scare employees. The reason they have to scare their employees is because they know that they are not smart enough to gain respect from their team. Most managers get their job either because they know somebody or because they’ve been somebody’s minion long enough. When an employee suggest an idea, it won’t be appreciated at all because the manager who is being presented to is not smart enough to support or evaluate the idea. Managers feel safe in their cocoons so they don’t read or update about the changing markets so they lead the whole company to fall behind. 4. The culture is toxic! If you didn’t get that from my three above examples, let me help and give you a few more terrible reasons why you should avoid this place at all cost. From my experience, I didn’t like it when managers bragging about the CEO to establish powers over us employees. I would very much respect them if they were to lead with examples and integrity. Managers lack of expertise and openly promote a groupie culture. During my time, I have seen a manager purposely lied to an employee to get information that the manager is not supposed to have, a manager walked out of the company when the person didn’t get promoted but don’t worry the manager was only bluffing and came back a few days after the memo was sent out to the company. There is competition and rivalry in every workplace, but the conflicts here are fueled by lies and cheats and not by real talents, which is extremely unfair and toxic.
