Pros

Benefits, can be fun depending on people you work with, flexible.

Cons

Corporate culture can be toxic. Authenticity can be an issue. Too many white people preaching inclusion, yet upper management is all white.

Pros

When I started in 2015, this company was amazing and stood out from a lot of service industry jobs. The benefits are good, especially for part-time people. Health, dental, and vision had great coverage at a lot of places. Loved the push to prioritize mental health by partnering with Lyra and offering free membership to Headspace. The free Spotify premium was my favorite benefit honestly! I will say the core mission and values of Starbucks were lived up to a lot of the time and if executive leadership noticed a miss, they were usually quick to address it and take action.

Cons

After reaching salaried status, work never ended, especially after the pandemic hit. There was always something coming up outside of your time in the store. Between someone calling out, testing positive, the insane turnover, and adding the basic responsibilities, it felt like you were multitasking into a mental breakdown. Work-life balance tanked the minute store managers were all issued MacBooks, it was great for flexibility, but that's a double-edged sword. Compensation was lacking greatly for salaried positions and around the time I left, I'm glad to say it was being addressed.
