Pros

Getting to know the customers was a good advantage of working as a Barista. The free drinks was also a nice perk, as well as the weekly free pound of coffee.

Cons

Occasionally, you may grow to dislike some of the less-competent Baristas or managers. The core values they held years ago have drifted, and they seem more into streamlining the process rather than feeling like a "third place", as they once advertised.

Pros

If you like talking with people and drinking coffee--that's your job. Not much to complain about.

Cons

Quality of your work experience depends a lot on management/co-workers. Since they hire virtually anyone, you never know what you're going to get.

Pros

Lots of benefits, high starting pay for this type of job, raises every 6 months, room to move up within company, the people i worked with.

Cons

Your work schedule changes every week, though the store I worked at was very flexible in letting me change my schedule around school and personal issues.
