Pros

If you want a living wage go somewhere else to work. Other than the health insurance aspect this company is focused on the wrong things.

Cons

Not one good thing is praised or rewarded at this company. DM's and above have no sense of what it is like to work in a store.

Pros

Great benefits package, flexible schedules, free coffee, partial tuition reimbursement available, usually store managers are closely watched and kept accountable by district managers. This in turn usually works to protect retail employees. Usually very clear about expectations and how to improve job performance. Starbucks is usually very supportive and tries to improve situations before letting go of employees.

Cons

Overworked and under-appreciated employees. Expected to accomplish more with less time, staff coverage and resources. Shift supervisors are feeling it the most as their job descriptions are changing to include more store management responsibility, but without more compensation or incentives. Low motivation. Focus on store morale and employee relations diminishing and being replaced with much stronger focus on profit and "suggestive selling." Need for balance.
