Pros

SAGE Publications is a collegial and pleasant working environment. The culture is friendly and engaging and the employees are appreciated. Without hesitation I would recommend this company to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in academic publishing. The benefits are incredible and the communication from senior management is clear and effective.

Cons

For someone who wishes to reside in a city environment in Southern California, the commute could be a challenge. The company is located in the suburbs and the location is better suited for someone with a family.

Pros

Colleagues are friendly and good flexibility. Salary is good for publishing, but it never increases.

Cons

Impossible to progress or get promoted. Promotions are only ever given to senior team members. Impossible to get salary increases. VPs prioritised over employees doing majority of the work. Huge amount of work. Never ending redundancies that are kept secret from staff. Weird new hybrid working policy that disproportionately impacts certain demographics of their staff.
