Pros

✔ Condensed Hours & Shorter Workweeks – Sage offers alternative working arrangements on paper, which may appeal to those seeking a non-traditional schedule. ✔ Opportunities for Career Growth (If You Fit the Mould) – There is potential for progression, but only for those who align with management’s expectations or threaten to leave. ✔ Frequent Organisational Changes – While these can be disruptive, they may create new opportunities for employees looking to take on additional responsibilities.

Cons

❌ Lack of True Flexibility – Despite advertising flexible working options, requests for remote work are routinely denied, even for employees who have worked remotely since joining. Personal circumstances, including long commutes and work-life balance, are not considered. ❌ Rigid and Impersonal Flexible Working Requests Process – Employees are encouraged to submit flexible working requests, but managers are provided with pre-written, dismissive responses that negate genuine needs. ❌ Inconsistent Career Progression – There are no clear guidelines on how to advance unless you are in favour with management. Meanwhile, senior leaders frequently receive title changes and salary increases without transparency. ❌ Unnecessary Restructuring and Meetings – Constant organisational changes lead to frequent, unproductive meetings, with a new organisational chart seemingly introduced every month. ❌ Significant Gender Pay Gap – Sage’s UK documentation states that men earn over 7% more in annual salary and receive over 12% more in bonuses than their female counterparts, raising concerns about pay equity. ❌ Poor Workplace Culture – Employees are often treated as mere numbers, with little value placed on their opinions. Constructive feedback is disregarded, and those who raise concerns are frequently ignored. ❌ Disengaged Leadership – Following multiple resignations within the same team, one manager dismissed it as an opportunity to “rebuild,” while another seemed oblivious to the root causes of high turnover. While Sage may appear to be an attractive employer at first glance, the reality is quite different. The company’s rigid policies, lack of genuine flexibility, gender pay disparities, and disengaged leadership create a challenging and frustrating work environment. If you're looking for a workplace that truly values its employees, you may want to explore other options

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your candidness, especially given your experience wasn't positive. Flexibility is key at Sage. We have a hybrid working structure and a generous Work Away policy. Colleagues are encouraged to raise any concerns around this with their leaders or through our internal Always Listening surveys and we shall certainly look into them. We have an 'internal first' approach to career progression and empower all colleagues to develop through our Talent Marketplace and Sage e-learning resources. Colleagues are encouraged to speak to their manager/our Talent Acquisition team for further guidance on development opportunities. Our gender pay gap has decreased to 4.8% from 7.3% and we published this in December 2024. The mean pay gap has reduced because we have increased the number of women in senior roles (top quartile) and we continue to focus on creating the conditions for career growth and success. It's important to clarify that the pay gap and equal pay are different things. We continually monitor our colleagues being paid the same for like work or work of equal value. We acknowledge there's room for improvement and remain committed to empowering our colleagues to achieve extraordinary things. We wish you the best in your career moving forward.
