When on the rig you can expect to work 20-40 hours straight Field engineer is responsible for many administration duties There is a lot of stress on a day to day basis and you are under a lot of pressure Management can at sometimes micromanage

Pros

Diversity, knowledge sharing, career opportunity, pay (when working oversea), dynamic- you literally can move around the globe, training and development system - to some extent

Cons

Culture of long working hour (sometime unnecessarily, most of time because of lack of resources), destroys your work-life balance, and sadly the company sees people as number regardless of the jargon. This was very obvious and felt in the time of downturn
