Lots of opportunities, but at a price

Pros

Especially if you are single and willing to travel, Schlumberger affords many opportunities. You can switch job functions and locations every couple of years. You meet fantastic people and see some really unique places.

Cons

The company has little regard for your personal life. Expect long hours with minimal vacation, and constant phone calls throughout, even as a young employee. Also, Schlumberger will put you where they want you to work, it doesn't matter if you have absolutely no interest in that job function or career path.

Pros

I think the best thing I face in SLB is pure international and multicultural atmosphere. There are no borders between countries. I know that there are many companies with advance technology but SLB is the first with combination of the technology plus multicultural atmosphere.

Cons

you are often pushed to relocation if you ask about changing of position or increasing of salary. Many people prefer work in one place and be able to make own career.

Pros

Money and thats about it.

Cons

It wastes you. After a few years, you realize you cant go out of slb and find a normal job. Its a bit like joining the army. Very aloof and distant from the normal jobs that our friends take up. Living in remote places, working 24x7 is fun for a while and then the reality dawns on you that the only way you can get a job is by somehow managing a MBA which sucks up all the money out of ur pocket anyways (assuming u do get thru )
