Pros

Vacation and work-life balance are the only two things you would appreciate!

Cons

Oh boy, where do I start... 1. With very few exceptions this company is full with a bunch of extremely arrogant well-dressed clowns. Plenty of French, Indian, Norwegian and Chinese bud kissers, bendovers, arse lickers and whatever you can imagine of. 2. Zero support for employees from their managers. 3. "Good luck " with the health insurance if you have a family.... 4. Like I mentioned above, plenty of expats who would do anything to keep their visas and absolutely run over other people. 5. Nothing gets accomplished ever...Some of the knuckleheads will present a project which no one knows how to develop and no one will ever listen to reasonable opinions. It almost feels these projects are done for the sake of the bonus requirements or to move up in the grade levels regardless of whether they are finished or not. 6. Grade levels...oh boy what a big pile of....(you know). Pay is a joke compared to competitors. 7. Stupid policies about field trip bonuses and expenses. It will take months to get them paid but would make faces if you refuse to go. 8. Very few people actually do some quality work. The majority are just lost satellites circling around. 10. You think you can join and try and later quit to pursuit happiness? Wrong!. Their army of lawyers will chase you down until they are sure they have ruined your life. The list continues.....If you want to be a work monkey, join otherwise run or you will never advance.

Pros

- Flexible environment and culture, promoting new ideas like startup company, which is rarely seen in a corporate of such large scale - Great benefits, probably among the best in the industry - Training, rotation program, and clear career development - Competitive salary

Cons

Too political, especially those who are expats from China and India. We used to have a technology center that was innovative and productive. Since the leadership replacement with those from China and India, lots of capable engineers were let go. Those who were favored stayed, among which many were incompetent to do the job. Favored projects/people kept missing deliveries, yet they were promoted and highlighted in quarterly reports. The new director from China did not do a single thing to improve the technical quality of the center. During her 2 years at the center, all she did was coming up with social events at the center, forcing employee to fill out all the unnecessary surveys to meet her target, fabricating reports to show promising results while projects were missing deadlines, and manipulating managers to grade employees the way she wanted. Similar stories were told about other departments. Bottom line is if you are lucky to work under a good leadership team, SLB is a great company to work for. Otherwise, it can be frustrating. These kinds of problems happen in every big company, but it's worse at SLB due to it's too liberal policy on using expats in leadership for centers in the USA.

Pros

Good salary, benefits and business position.

Cons

Working way too much, company is getting old. the fact that they are cutting budget over investing for real efficiency (Yes Im talking to you ITT Project) is making systems old, computers old and people without the correct tools to actually make a difference.
