Stay Away From Schlumberger

Pros

Large company with name recognition. Work experience at SLB can look good on a resume.

Cons

1. The company is too large and out of touch. Most of the "transformation initiatives" or whatever flavor of the month improvement they were trying to push was always a joke and added zero value to the organization. If you were to go to an SLB center and walk up to employees and ask them about whatever the next "think new act new" transformation was about, no one would be able to tell you because no one knew what it was and didn't care. 2. This company is a machine that will chew you up and spit you out. You are absolutely just a number to them. They will lay you off at the drop of a hat. If you wind up working for SLB, get a few years under your belt then get out while you can. 3. Management is mostly incompetent, and they know it. Anything a manager ever does is directly related to their bonus objectives. It doesn't get any easier than predicting what a manager will do, just take a look at their performance objectives. 4. HR reps actively work against employees. They protect the company, that's it. You will not get any help from them. If you need help, they will just tell you to put in an HR ticket. Employees that complain to HR about harassment or employees that are whistle blowers are immediately blacklisted. HR is not your friend at this company, they are your enemy. 5. SLB actively seeks to compensate employees as little as possible. They are currently losing a lot of good employees because they haven't given out raises in years and employees are taking their talents elsewhere. Schlumberger doesn't care. They are the Walmart of oilfield service companies. It's a revolving door of young ambitious employees entering and burned out, frustrated abused employees leaving. There is no future with this company unless you want to be miserable for the rest of your life.

Pros

Free food and good nsurance.

Cons

1. Junk/left over work- Houston team get all the good work and pune teams get the left over boring and repetitive work. 2 . Employees value- pune sap management does not value its employees and contractors and valued more than its own employees. Contractors get better work then than employees. 3. On site- no onsite opportunities. Only few were given on site opportunities because they are management's favorite. On site are given on personal reasons but not on business reasons. 4.Career- management does not have any plan for its employees careers. Promotion and hike are almost impossible. Promotion are not on performance based but on some stupid process development 20 -30 years back. So don't expect promotion or career growth . 5. Job title- years of experience or role does matter. All are give same title "business process analyst " What else is left here to motivate to work in SLB Pune?

Pros

The pay is good for my position and department at $21.63/hour plus overtime pay. Most people are getting between 72 and 84 hours a week so very good pay all together. The benefits available through Schlumberger are amazing and it is stupid not to utilize the discounted stock purchase program if it’s available to you.

Cons

You have to walk on eggshells for various reasons through training. Get used to hearing how you’ll be let go if you screw up when doing XYZ.
