Pros

Still makes some effort at work life balance. Now recognizes that remote work is possible.

Cons

Benefits are fading and pay now lags far behind any legit competition. New policies are resulting in systemic ageism, whether intended or not. Pretends that it does Agile and CI/CD, but actually just pays lip service to the ideas. (No, that doesn't mean we do "waterfall", it means we muddle along with little useful guidance from mgmt.) Staffing in QA has dropped precipitously due to the latest wave of early retirement offers, and the products are suffering.

Pros

Many nice people and amenities on the Cary campus. Cadillac health insurance including on-site clinic.

Cons

Low relative salaries and little chance for career growth. Very political. Brown-nosers do get ahead. Management is dysfunctional and untrained, abetted by HR. IT seen as a cost center to cut.

Pros

For my colleagues in Cary NC, life seems perfect. I worked as a consultant on site with clients in the Rosslyn/Arlington/DC area. They have the nicest office campus at headquarters with every amenity. Everything I heard before joining was from reputation down there. The benefits are still top notch. The local office was a pride and joy, a great place to bring clients, although in my role, we didn't need to do that.

Cons

No work from home (pre-pandemic). Management has no idea how to interface with the Federal Govt. They seem to think having a reputable name like SAS means business will come to them. No team spirit. People seemed to only care about thier own projects. Management does not have an 'open door' policy as advertised. It was impossible to get a phone call or meeting with anyone but my immediate supervisor and he was the problem. Human resources was perfunctory and not at all proactive about wanting to talk to me about addressing problems.
