Pros

Campus is nice. There are some people who are genuinely nice. usually outside of the managed application services group. Area is well known, everyone knows SAS.

Cons

Nobody knows what SAS does. Or what SAS offers. Viya 4? Extremely vague--Great benefits that are difficult to take advantage of. Walking trails during lunch? no time. Lunch? at your desk rushed. be ready to be chained to your phone. rec center? nobody wants to stay on campus after 5 pm. 35 work weeks are a lie. 40 hours is a lie. Constant change for no reason. Outdated operations, only to get worse with this shift to Microsoft. hosting These cons are only specific to Building Q. others on campus are less stressed. how do i know? just pay attention to how other buildings act - less rushed, look happy. not really world class benefits. next level micromanagement. you might as well take your thinking cap off if you join SAS. oh and don't expect to learn any marketable skills we just act like we know what we are doing but no training at all on nothing. even sas. what a joke

Pros

Excellent conditions for diminishing the assembly of a promising team to a conceited collection of self praising individuals. If obsequious and ingratiating are your go to forms of leveling up, this is the organisation for you. It's like I got into a time machine and went to the 80's. Might be worth it just for the out of body experience of living through a totally ridiculous situation for 2020. There are a lot worse companies , and a lot better. This one is squarely average but you will be frustrated if you are gen y type A. People are nice in a naive way. Helpful in a self promotion way as long as the status quo is maintained. Plenty of opportunity to shape this company for those who enjoy a unique challenge. Technology is worthy. People are genuinely well intending albeit en masse, misguided.

Cons

The symptoms of organisational neglect are exposed through the short sited, and insecure steppings of a heavily biased proportion of employees promoted by tenure. Majority use of inward looking feedback for self improvement likened to the blind leading the blind. Humility is painfully and publicly exhibited by our out of touch leadership team while leaving high performers disenchanted for their dreams of resolve and practicality. They scramble to obtain credibility while failing to discern it. I find the attitude completely lacking in energy , and innovation.

Pros

Good work/life balance Some decent management that cares Exposure to new technology and industries Good healthcare

Cons

Insider politics A lot of promotions are given to Cary NC insiders on the ‘fast track’ ... this is BAD for moral. Lack of diversity in upper management especially in the first 3 levels which trickles down to promotions. Tepid growth, belt tightening, re-orgs, layoffs Lower pay and PTO compared to other organizations.
