Pros

The company culture is great. Work/life balance, generally supportive environment, great benefits. Plenty of quality on-campus cafeterias with good, inexpensive meals.

Cons

Bonuses for most people are 4-6% these days. Raises are not annual, even to keep up with inflation. Don't count on your salary being worth the same as when you started or better, due to inflation and lack of raises. Also, people rarely leave, and the company isn't growing significantly, so there's limited opportunity to climb the ladder.

Pros

On campus Dr. office, cafeterias, daycare, gym, swimming pools, soccer & softball fields, etc. Great on-campus culture and convenient for families with small kids. Everyone has an office (no cubicles), which is a perk I’ve come to appreciate more and more over the years.

Cons

Limited upward mobility, below market salaries, limited incentive. If you’re not in sales, your bonus depends on “total company performance”, not individual performance. For example, if you owned and delivered successful projects throughout the year that helped renew a $5 million annual contract, you don’t receive a penny because you’re not in sales. Strong and low performers receive similar bonuses based on “total company performance”. Strong performance is rewarded with more work, more projects, longer hours, etc. but not more pay or advancement. Low performance is tolerated and rewarded with less work. Hardly anyone from either group ever gets promoted because of low management turnover, so eventually the strong performers leave for 50+% pay increases and stock options.

Pros

It has good benefit especially if you work in the Headquarters. Generous parental leave and child subsidy.

Cons

Been with SAS for 14 years and there is very little career opportunity. SAS is also losing steam as many company are using open source and not willing to pay for the SAS software. You have to be vocal and ask for promotion, otherwise, you won't get promoted.
