Pros

The staff are the number 1 greatest thing about working at SAS. I work with impressive people who know their onions, but most importantly are great teammates. There's a lovely cross-team ethos which I think spans back to when this office was a startup. Recruitment and development has been great in the years I've been here. So many of my colleagues joined as interns or graduates, and are now established and making significant impact as Sr developers or testers, product managers, or team leads. Some former grads are now directors and senior managers. People get responsibility or job changes based on whether they have the ability and skills, not depending on how long they've been in a role -- I realise that's a different approach to some other places. But it means you'll always have opportunities to show you can take on more. True hybrid working. SAS has an office in Glasgow but nobody is mandated to come in. A lot of folks do like to come in but they do it when they want, either to mix with people or if there's a big design meeting or something. International football tournament. For 20 years SAS held an annual 11 aside tournament where SAS offices from around the world would fly to the host country and do an all-day tournament. 350 people came to the last one in Glasgow (pre-COVID). Amazing way to meet folks from around the company.

Pros

- good people - nice office space, even though it's becoming an additional expense in the times of work from home - good benefits/salary, even though they are getting smaller and smaller

Cons

- lack of product strategy - unclear trajectory to reach IPO in 2024 - legacy technology meets the cloud - not invented here syndrome - load of R&D staff have retired or left
