Stay away from building Q and the PMO.

Pros

Seriously none. I had a terrible experience there.

Cons

Building Q culture is awful. No one works the 35 hours you hear about, everyone is now sharing offices, no one gets a lunch break like in other buildings to enjoy the facilities. Expectation is that you work over 40 hours. Everyone at SAS knows how awful building Q is to work in and no one will do anything to change it.

Pros

The campus is well landscaped. On-site facilities (cafes, gym, pool).

Cons

This is a dying company with a few ancient products keeping it up. SAS technology has become stale and lost its edge. SAS has failed miserably at maintaining their advantage in the software industry. This is NOT the place to work if you want to be a leader or want to follow strong leaders. Freezing people out is a very popular tactic here, especially if a competent employee is reliant on receiving information from an incompetent manager. Do NOT expect professional advancement here. Salary is NOT competitive enough to keep top talent. HR is NOT there for employees. Avoid HR at all cost. Do not contact them for anything other than to resign.

Pros

SAS remains a market leader in analytics. Why not? They pretty much invented the space. If you live in Cary, NC you enjoy the incredible benefits of the SAS campus. As a remote employee, not so much. SAS salaries are OK. Not great, but livable. However, don't expect to be over paid at SAS.

Cons

SAS is a dying company. Inventing a space and maintaining your advantage are two different things, and SAS has failed miserably at the latter. SAS has become a "government," over bureaucratic, too many levels of useless administrators, impossible to react to market conditions, and they take their own analytics-based mentality too seriously allowing their processes to get in the way of common sense and logical business practices.
