Pros

Multi cultural and professional community. 9 day work per fortnight. Flexi time. Lots of potential growth.

Cons

Not yet fully established processes. Lack of resources needed. All the above causing more work for you to deliver what’s required. Late hours calls with European counterparts on a regular basis.

Smooth Onboarding and Induction

Pros

The onboarding and induction process has been automated, starting from obtaining financial information (bank, tax, super) prior to being physically in the office. HSE Induction was also scheduled ahead, including ordering uniforms. the laptop, accessories, mobile phone and IT orientation were all provided on the first day which facilitated all other electronic induction. HSE Orientation is provided on the first hour, following a successful COVID-19 testing. The Welcome bag of items was also a nice touch. Security access to 2 sites were provided within the first 3 hours. My manager is well engaged with the induction process, so is the teammate who provided detailed information on all current activities and included me in recurring meeting invitations and new work that has emerged.

Cons

Improvement idea: The Induction form need updating in terms of timing – it states it has to be completed within the first week. This includes reading 32 documents plus 4 online training courses (for 1st week only), and 2 inductions. I was enrolled in 18 online courses (mostly text presentations) which are spread out over 3-4 weeks. I suggest that the policies related to the online courses be presented together as one to ensure clear alignment. E.g. the online course will state something like – “Check your policy; if the policy does not include….” Such qualified statement can be revised to state exactly what is the policy content.
