Pros

Some, as long as there is plenty of work. But not enough to outweigh the cons. Get it while you can and keep your options open to move on.

Cons

Many. They will ride you hard and hang you out to dry. Expect them not to keep their promises during the hiring process and they will think that they own you after you are hired. Some of the upper management is good to work with but do not expect it to last long. Management is shaken up quite often and sooner or later you will end up in a snake pit. And good luck in that one horse town. The sun and dryness will ruin your skin. Upper management will treat the lower level employees very poorly when the government contracts get thin. Beware.

Pros

Raytheon is a pretty standard defense company. Decent pay if you already have experience from another company and they will pay for school.

Cons

My experience with the company has been pretty bad thus far. During my interview I was told that I would have the opportunity to shadow Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that were near retirement to help retain that knowledge. I felt like it was a great opportunity to expand my own knowledge base and to take the next step in my career…boy was I wrong. I started and ended up sitting in a cube with no direction, other than mandatory training, for several weeks. I never had the opportunity to work with any of the SMEs and for eight months I was bounced from one charge number to the next. Come to find out, there were no real plans for me, other than to poach me from a competitor. On two different occasions my manager asked me to apply to other positions within the company. I finally found work, on my own, and have since transferred departments. Things have gotten better in the new department, I am told that I am one of their highest performers, and will be up for promotion soon. The bad part here is the raises and promotions. Raises have been 2-3% for a while from what I’m told and the promotion comes with another 2ish% on top of the normal raise. That’s not very much in my opinion for amount of responsibility that comes with the next position.
